Tone Style and Bias

Description

This is an assignment I got from my teacher, Jordan, when I was in a school called NIC. In this task, I identified the tone and style of several articles and compared other articles. If the report contains many subjective terms related to the organization or biased individual perspectives the report from, it should be considered rather a blog than an article. On the other hand, readings do not contain such words and appear objective. Reading is very likely related to academics. Finding the tone is relatively easy, but it's important to know what the article is trying to say.

Reflection
One of the skills I could obtain from identifying tone and style is reading comprehension. That is because it requires close looking at articles. To get the writer's feature, I needed to think over what the writer is trying to say and to lead readers. Another ability I improved is critical thinking. Since most articles include subjective information naturally in order to lead readers without any suspicion, I must think critically to find out odd points.

Application
In my eyes, the skills that can be trained through this activity would be helpful in the future. That is because it increases my media literacy which helps me not to be a biased person. Now, we can get various information from numerous media. It is convenient but it is also dangerous as there would be many wrong or biased contents. Obtaining credible information is important especially when I make a choice or an action. On top of that, it would improve the ability to perceive others' feelings or emotions by recognizing authors' features. Because of this, it would be helpful when I talk with someone or understand their inner thoughts or feelings which is important to sustain relationships.
