Opinion for readings

Description

This is an outcome a professor of Psychology class gave me when I was in an International College called NIC. This assignment required a deep understanding of Freud’s Wish-Fulfillment Theory and Activation-Synthesis Hypothesis from readings. These theories aim to determine what our dream indicates and the hidden meanings. What I did is choose one remembered memory and try to guess the concealed meanings of my dream based on their theories. Since their theories are pretty unique and prejudiced in my opinion, it turned out that my dream was very sexual and chaotic as it said I wanted to have sex with my mother and strong desire for sexual activities which I did not want to believe.

Reflection
Although this assignment was unique, I would train some skills. One of the skills is an observational skill as I must analyze my dream and guess how my dream would be seen from their theories' perspective. I was closely looking at the contents of my dream and their theories. Another ability I obtain is academic skills because it required a deep understanding of their theories. I read numerous articles many times and I organized the ideas by taking notes. Plus, I could improve my ability to recall as I remembered my old dream clearly to compare. I closed my eyes and concentrated to visualize my dream again. This technique may be utilized when I slipped something into my mind.

Application

It would be crystal clear that these skills are helpful in the future. In terms of observational skills, for example, if I land a job in the service industry, I would need to put myself in customers' shoes. It is crucial to sell products and make customers comfortable. Moreover, my academic skills improved in this assignment are important because I am going to study at Tyler Junior College in Texas. I can expect that I need to read, think, and take notes thousands of times. On top of that, academic skills are not only for college but also workplaces. These skills would be basic to work logically.

Interview

Description

This is an activity I did with my teacher Jack, when I was in an international college called NIC. That was practice for the speaking section of an English exam named IELTS. In that activity, my teacher asked some general questions with an interview style. It was about ten minutes and there were two sections which were 2 minutes speech on a topic and some questions about the topic. I remember the topic I was asked was about the skill I would like to teach someone. I answered with hunting skills as I was a hunter who hunted deer and wild bores with some traps. After that interview, I got some feedback from the teacher to get better.

Reflection
One of the skills I could acquire was impromptu speaking skills. Although my assignment usually is reading and writing, it is difficult to enhance my improvised speaking ability. However, since the activity required thinking fast, organizing thoughts and speaking fluently, it was good practice for making my speaking skills better. On top of that, as it was a formal interview setting, I could experience a job interview like the interview and an IELTS exam. It was a great opportunity to speak without being nervous.

Application
In my view, that interview activity is supportive in the future too. One of the situations that experience helps out is when I look for a job. That is because most of the job interviews would be formal and I would need to tell interviewers legit things in a limited time like that practice. Besides that, since that activity was like IELTS, it is helpful when I take IELTS too as I get familiar with the interview style. Plus, I got feedback from my teacher that I should show a wider vocabulary and not repeat the same word as much as possible. I could be able to increase my IELTS score the next time.
